Dr. Makoto Tamai, a orthopaedic surgeon who is specialized in hand surgery started his private practice at the West 18th Strret Hand Clinic in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan in 2010. The clinic holds an operation room and a rehabilitation room. Two specialized hand therapists are working with Dr. Tamai for postoperative rehabilitation and manual therapy. We are providing professional treatments for problems of hands and upperextremities including traumas and chronic disorders.

About Doctor
1991 Makoto Tamai graduated from Kurume University School of Medicine. He was approved as a Medical Doctor by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan and became a member of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA).
1993 Makoto Tamai, MD became a member of the Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand (JSSH).
1996 Makoto Tamai, MD completed the post-gladuate course of Immunology at the Kurume University.
1998 Makoto Tamai, MD was approved as an Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon by the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA).
2000 Makoto Tamai, MD completed 1 year's Preceptorship at the Indiana Hand Center, Indianapolis, IN, USA.
2003 Makoto Tamai, MD completed 2 years' Fellowship for Hand and Microsurgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute, Louisville, KY, USA.
2005 Makoto Tamai, MD organized the Heisei Hand Surgery Study Group and is holding annual Wrist Surgery Workshop (WSWS) in Japan since 2008.
2009 Makoto Tamai, MD was approved as a member of the International Wrist Investigators Workshop (IWIW).
2010 Makoto Tamai, MD and his family moved to Sapporo.
2012 Makoto Tamai, MD opened West 18th Street Hand Clinic. He was approved as an International Member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).

By Car : Since there is no parking space, please use public parking lots (east side of Nissan or south nside of Mecicare-center Bldg is closest).
By Bus (JR Bus Soen - Maruyama line) : 3 minutes' walk from "Odori Nishi 18-chome" bus stop.
